I love the Outer Banks and have visited about 10 times. This house was probably my least liked - the bathrooms were extremely small and had shower stalls from the 70's. The main bathroom's shower leaked pretty badly with each use. So extra towels will be needed. I thought the listing was for 2 Q and 1 F bed, but when we arrived it was the opposite. Also, there is a large step into the kitchen which would have been an issue if we had small children in our group. My elderly parents had some issue with it. The location was fabulous, but for the price the house needs some improvements.

This was our first trip to the OBX and we enjoyed every minute of it! The Barnes house was clean, cool, and comfortable, with plenty of space for our family of 4 plus one grandparent. We enjoyed the fruit basket that greeted us upon our arrival and spent a lot if our evenings on the porch enjoying the ocean breeze. Our kids loved the pool table downstairs. The location of the house is awesome and made it so easy to access the beach. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience! We look forward to our stay next year!

I would like to thank the Barnes family for a very special New Years Eve weekend. I felt at peace as soon as I stepped in the front door of their house. The home is very cozy and the view is beautiful. Many childhood beach memories came back to me while staying in this lovely home. A very comfortable nautical experience that I will hold on to. Our 6th year. Love the house and lication. Our home away from home. Already reserved for next summer.
Just a recommendation. Some small attention to the house needed. please service the a/c. It really is on its last leg. Otherwise we enjoyed ourselves for 2 weeks and can't wait to get back.

Great Little Beach Cottage

We had a wonderful time staying at the Barnes house. The cottage is just perfect for 6-7 guests and we were happy they allowed us to bring our two small dogs. Location is fantastic, only a 30 second walk to the beach, with grocery and Kmart near by for last minute purchases. The house was clean, beds were comfy, and property management responsive when issues arose (a broken chair, and a lockout). We would stay here again in a heartbeat! The basement rec room was a little stuffy (only one window AC unit), but is great for hanging out or a game of pool. Cable TV in each bedroom is a nice amenity.

Great Week at the Barnes Cottage

This cottage is all a small group needs. The kitchen is well stocked, the AC works well and the bedrooms are well furnished. The living room furniture, except for one chair is comfortable. The TV remotes are hard to figure out; some TVs had to be turned on manually. It should be noted that WIFI users should use "barnes cottage", not "barnes cottage guest" when logging in. Great beach access.

We went the week of 9/12-9/19 the house was perfect for us!! Easy walk to the beach! Great location as far as walking distance from pier/restaurants and short drive to other great places! LOVED the spacious covered front porch which we spent every night on watching the world go by and enjoying the view! We would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

Top Notch location and well equipped

We stayed here for two weeks in August and had a great experience - house is very well equipped, especially in the kitchen. The downstairs rec room with pool table and second kitchen was a god-send for the kids, and it was nice to have TVs in all the bedrooms so folks could relax after the beach. Location is ideal, close to virtually everything in OBX and across the street from the beach. As others have stated, only issue on our stay was the wi-fi, which was flaxy. I ended up rebooting the router a couple of times and that seemed to clear it up but I think Comcast should just replace the router itself.

great property. We had a maint issue, we called and a maint tech was onsite within 30 minutes. The septic tank had to be pumped, the job was referred and we had the pump truck onsite within the hour. Super excited about the timeframe that everything was completed. Kudos to the staff at Carolina shores

Property is conveniently located but missing amenities. Cable service was sketchy, cables for DVD player were missing, no air conditioning in lower level other than window unit which was not large enough, furniture comfort not that good

Location was fantastic, kitchen fully equipped for eating in , the front porch was so relaxing and made good conversation while kiddos slept. Dunkin doghnuts a mile away made a nice am walk. Locals in the area are very pleasant to chat with! Definitely renting this again in the future!

My wife, daughter (20mo), dog and I stayed at Barnes in September and had a fabulous week! The location is a 1 minute walk to the beach, 5 min drive to restaurants and bars and a 5 minute walk to the Avalon Fishing Pier. The house is clean and comfortable and we will definitely return in the future. Go check it out!!

We had a great time. The house was beautiful and right across from the beach with close access. The furniture is the house was nice. Comfortable beds, and chairs. The couch is a hide a bed and would easily fit two people. The kitchen is small but big enough for a vacation. The porch is perfect. It has two outdoor rocking chairs and a swing.
The staff were supper nice. The helped us find a place to print tickets to Bush Gardens. The recommended Georges Buffet and it was a great meal.
For the price you will not find a better deal. We had a GREAT vaction at this house and you will too.
