The beach bunker "sea shelter" has 2 positives: location and price. Otherwise, I would not recommend. We arrived to a house with the door wide open and grasshoppers all over inside. The place smelled of mold/urine and was not cleaned. The couch and cushioned chairs all had stains on them and the carpet is long overdue for a replacement. It felt like the bunker had been flooded on a few occasions. The bathroom was decent. In order to cool the house (and remove the moisture smell) you have to run 6 portable AC units. Very loud. Also the exterior could use a power washing and a paint job.
Again, the location and price are great.....

One house from the beach! The pier was within walking distance for fishing & eating. The property is older but the price reflects that. A/c was window units so they were a little loud but they pumped out the cold air! Property management company was available whenever I needed them and very responsive and accommodating. The only somewhat negative thing I can say is the bathroom needs to be cut down about an inch at the bottom because it rubs and is loud and wakes up people when I use it but that's a very minor detail. Overall we were quite happy with the property.

Had a great time and the rental was 100 feet from the beach in a quiet location. The condition of the house left a bit to be desired. It was not particularly clean and the sink,leather couch and carpet should be replaced. Small fixes like new faucet aerators in the outside shower and bathroom and clean fabric couch cushions would have made the stay more pleasant. Overall a good deal and decent place in a great location.

Excellent visit. Property well-maintained overall. Very close to the beach. Maintenance responded quickly when there was a minor issue. Excellent rental for a small family.

The house is very close to the beach.. Don't have high expectations, the bathroom is in bad condition, the carpet is really old, there was lot of dust on the screen covers. It was very affordable and walking distance to the beach..

The location is the best part about this rental. Just a few steps and your on the beach. This house was probably the first house built in the area and nothing has been updated since. The kitchen was pretty small. There were only three of us. It was have been very cramped for 8. It clean for the most part. We quickly found out it was very hard to keep the sand outside and the vacuum in the house did not work. I would consider staying again if a few minor updates were made such as new furniture and TVs, and a washer and dryer.

Nothing Fancy but Close to the Beach!

A great time was had by all! This little place by the beach is nothing fancy, has no amenities to speak of, and no ocean view but it is clean and cool and very close to the beach, close enough that we didn't even need to take a cooler with us, we could just walk back to the house if we needed something to drink. It has brand new kitchen appliances and pots and pans, but a very small kitchen with little to no counter space. Cooking real meals for a family proved to be difficult. Luckily, the walk to the pier for yummy snacks and drinks was a perfect distance away. We had a couple of problems with the outdoor shower head and the bathroom but someone was there to fix them within a few hours. If you're not an early morning person, bring a sleep mask because the light in the big bedroom is bright! Also, the window cooling units are kinda loud. Overall, if you're looking for fancy or plan on spending a lot of time indoors, this isn't the place for you, but if you're goal is to be near the waves and practically live on the sand like we do, this is perfect.

My friend and I had a totally delightful stay at this location. The house is not fancy, but clean and totally functional with the exception of the outdoor shower; which was not a big issue. Wifi access would be nice, but cell phone access was good. The location can't be beat, one house away from the dune, and quick access to modern conveniences (groceries, etc.). This little house really grew on us, and we would stay again.

This was a rental for our two families comprised of 4 adults, 1 teenager and 2 children under age of 8. The beach bunker was exactly as described. If you just need a place to stay at the beach and relax, this is it. No luxuries here but definitely a cozy, family house that has been well kept and clean. This was the perfect house as far as location to nearby attractions and the beach. close enough to everything but yet far enough away to relax. We were all delighted about this bunker, the only Wi-Fi. I would definitely recommend this bunker to ALL my friends :)

This rental was perfect for what we needed. It is right off of the beach and it's close by a number of restaurants and shops. We are a family of four and there was plenty of room for us. The kids has their own TVs, which was a nice perk. Granted, the "bunker" is somewhat rustic. It could use some updating and a little TLC. Anyone looking for a fancy place with amenities probably wouldn't be happy. But if you want something affordable in a great location, this is a perfect choice.

Worked great for a guys fishing trip. It would sort of make you think of a fish camp. It suited our needs well and we liked it's location. The house is second off the beach, about 6 miles to the Oregon Inlet Fishing center and walking distance to the OBX pier. The house is showing it's age and could use some upgrades. The stove eyes don't stay plugged in well, the tub drains very slowly, the pots and pans are in poor condition, and we had to use coolers to keep the fridge closed. It is fruitless to try to get the sand out of the outdoor so you can use it to keep sand out of the house. The "grill" is a small tabletop grill in bad condition. I would use it again for another fishing trip, but I would not bring the wife and kids to stay here. It's better than a tent.

We absolutely loved the location and layout of the Beach Bunker. The place itself is perfect for beach bums who want to be close to the beach and just hang out. I would suggest that if you plan on cooking, bring EVERYTHING you need except plates, cups and silverware. The pans and bowls were un-usable. Other than that, it was a quaint little place to stay and we had a blast.
