Description

The Wright Duck is a fully furnished and very comfortable 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a private in-ground 14' x 30' saltwater pool.

Master Bedroom has a queen size bed and has private full bath (shower). Second Bedroom has a queen size bed. Third bedroom has a pyramid bed - - full size below, single on top bunk and 32" HDTV. Second bath in hallway (tub) has a washer and dryer. The "Great Room" includes a large living area with a 37" HDTV, dining area that seats 6, breakfast bar in kitchen area that seats 3, and a well equipped kitchen for cooking "in". A Weber charcoal grille is located outside. The wraparound deck faces south and east and has morning and late afternoon shade (east side) and sun for most of the day (south side).

This is a non smoking / no pets property, booked to family groups only - - no fraternities or sororities.

The house was perfect! The realtor experience was terrible. Check in/out process at the realtor office needs to be eliminated. This can easily be done with a keyless entry system. The traffic during these times is a nightmare. Making it a very frustrating experience for the guests. We have been renting for many years in Duck and have been able to go right to the house. We would get our access code via email the week before our check in date along with all other info needed. We were told by this realtor to not step foot on this property until we got the keys from them. This also was frustrating because every other realtor would allow us to park in the driveway and use the pool. All they asked is that we not enter the house. This realtor had us wait until exactly four not a minute before to get our keys. Having to deal with the keys all week was a nuisance. It was not fun bringing a key to the beach. We also had all adults that liked to go in different directions and we were always having to coordinate with who had the keys and who was going to be back when. Keyless entry is a must! Please pass on to the owner!!

A nice house. Good aircon which was essential<br/>as it was brutally hot.<br/>Comfortable for up to 5 people, more would have been a squeeze.<br/>Only nit was literally no washing up liquid or salt or any basics so had to shop for everything. That’s a shame and a pain and could easily be dealt with fir bc a tiny amount of money

Unfortunately due to the changing times we do not supply salt, spices, or paper products.
With allergies and complaints that the home was not clean because open seasoning, etc. was left is a contributing factor in our decision.
However we do provide in the welcome bag, a roll of paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing detergent / liquid and a small salt and pepper shaker to get you started.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay.
Hope to see you again in the 2024 season.

Nice pool, good location, house needs some work

Description provides the basics: enjoyed the pool, easy walking distance to town and not too far of a walk to the beach. The house is ok but definitely needs some work: TV system was not great, refrigerator was small and ice machine is limited, Dryer makes an awful sound when running - had to leave the house when we started it and the beds were ok for aleeping. House needs some love but didn’t spoil our time.

The house was good. Nice pool, nice layout. My only 2 issues I had where that the mattresses all seemed too soft or worn out. The other is the amount of dust and filth on pictures, counters in the ceiling and the air filter was disturbing. Just made me feel like the cleaning crew or who ever is responsible for cleaning hasn’t done anything in a very long time. Otherwise you can tell the house is being maintained and updated to stay nice. The walk to the beach felt shorter then the map made it look. We could even drive a vehicle to a small parking area right in front of the steps to get to the beach. Also just a 10 min walk to Duck boardwalk and shops.

The house is the older style beach house and the owners have retained some of the charm (wood paneling, lots of vintage beachy decor) while updating the most used areas to today's standards. The house was clean and overall in great condition. The pool is fabulous and a real highlight! I would suggest a more comfortable mattress in the hall queen bedroom--it was very firm (some may like this but for us it was uncomfortable). The kitchen could use better lighting, and vent fans in the bathrooms and over the stove would be useful additions. The location is about 1/3 of a mile from the beach access, which was an easy walk. There is parking at the access so driving your beach gear down is possible. Walking to shops and restaurants was also easy, as was riding bikes around (and bikes were often faster than taking the car!). It's a quiet area and the surrounding trees make for nice morning shade.<br/><br/>One note--if you are renting north of the 158/12 interchange you need to go to the Duck office to get your key. This is stated on page 3 of the rental agreement, but the address given at the very top of page 1 of the agreement is for the Kitty Hawk office. Don't be like me and put that address into your GPS or you'll waste a good hour (while I acknowledge my mistake, it would be great if the rental agreements for houses that use the Duck office had that address at the top). For first timers, traffic is HORRIBLE starting several miles before the bridge and then going north on 12, so I suggest coming into town really early and finding something to do until check in. We paid 175 dollars for early check in and while our ETA was 2 PM, we didn't get to the house until 5 pm, so that was wasted money. <br/><br/>A special shoutout to Amanda, who was very responsive when I contacted her about a couple of very minor issues! She was a definite bright spot!

Very little amenities or whaybi would call extras. Kayak, cleaning supplies, pool accessories, ocean accessories, general spices like salt and pepper not available. Don't expect the hospitality and sharing that you would find along the gulf coast area like Dauphin Island or Fort Meyer.
