Fabulous week at Casa de Luz

We just enjoyed another fabulous week at Casa de Luz. We have spent a week at this location for many years and will continue to do so. The new siding, decking and railings are great and it’s always very apparent how much care the owners put into this property. The easy beach access also has been upgraded and makes the quick walk over the dune even simpler. The open floor plan of the main floor makes it easy for our large family group to enjoy meals and time hanging out together all in one space. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, utensils and such and we always love the gift of Lighthouse Bagels that the owners treat guests to each visit. The pool, hot tub and sand volleyball court are excellent amenities to this house, and the daily visit of a Kona Ice truck to the neighborhood is a fun bonus. We look forward to another memory-making week spent at Casa de Luz in July 2024!

Enjoyed our stay at Casa De Luz! Appreciated the new siding, new decking and new deck furniture. Made some additional memories here. Unfortunately, with THE OBX ONE party house being erected next door, this will be our last stay. We had a good 2yrs run, staying here.

When we get complaints like this we always call the other Real Estate Company to have them contact their guest.

We are always happy to pull into the driveway! There were some nice upgrades/changes to the exterior storage and interior decor. The kitchen is the real star. Everything is labeled, it's well stocked, and there's plenty of space to work/dine/gather. Proximity to the beach without the hefty oceanside price tag makes this a great choice for us. The beach access has been upgraded as well. The hot tub was hot and the pool was cool - we had a few red flag days so it was great to still get to swim.

We have been staying here for many years as it fits our family just right. Also, just next door to friends that we love to visit. Every year, we see a few upgrades and appreciate that. New TVs this year were great, though it took a little getting used to the set up for these non techy types (LOL). Not sure why, but we had sheets supplied this year and that saved us some time on check in. Thanks if you had anything to do with that. We will be looking to book again next year, for sure. Couple things that could be addressed - hot tub cut off a few times and we had to call maintenance to get it running again (great response, by the way) and the slider in the Q BR was so difficult to open that it was not used. For Carolina Shores, I would recommend a solution to having to wait for check-in in Duck. How about a physical check in and then a code provided for the door when the home is ready? We get there early and have to wait around, even for our early check in. Thanks!

Inside of the house was nice. Well stocked with plates, silverware, glassware, etc. Air conditioning worked well. Outside of the house needs some TLC. Saw several holes in the exterior of the house, including paint peeling. Saw several spindles on the outside porch that were not fastened. Porch was weathered. Pool was nice, but water warms up quickly due to small size. We would stay here again and I would recommend this place to a friend or relative.

This was the perfect house for our OBX vacation. The house, although a bit dated, has great bones and a great, well-maintained space for our 9 guests. The commercial ice machine was a huge plus and helped with drinks at the house and filling coolers for the beach. The walk to beach access was short, although the stairs up and over the dunes were hard for the youngest and oldest in the group. The pool area and pergola were beautiful. Horseshoe pits were excellent, although the horseshoes themselves were oxidized and hard to handle. The mattresses could use an upgrade, but did not negate the positives of the house.

Casa de Luz is a comfortable home in a great location. During our stay, we had extreme heat during the first four days until the weather broke and cooled to the 80s. While it was very warm (90s), the top level was extremely hot. We kept all blinds and curtains closed and the thermostat set to 70, however the temp in the home rose to 80/81 every day. It did not coll down to 70 until the early morning, but as soon as the sun rose, the temp in the house did too. We endured this from Sat-Tues. The heat in the home also seemed to cause issues with the freezer. For a few days, it did not make ice and items were thawing. Once the weather changed the freezer went back to normal. I called it into maintenance and also know the renters the week before had the same issue. We have rented homes for many years in very hot weather and never had this issue. It was very uncomfortable in the home at night for making dinner and sleeping. Maintenance and office kept telling us it was because it was so hot and that it was normal. This was not normal. It seems there needs to be a more powerful AC system for the top level and/or better insulation. It ran constantly during the first few days and never stopped. Maintenance was also called as the cable box didn’t work in the lower level K BR. Called on Sat nite and no service until Tues. Box was changed with sitting room and was told it would be called in for repair. Not fixed during our stay. VB court was too rocky to play barefoot and dangerous for diving for balls. We adjusted to a less intense style of play. Other than those issues, the house was very well equipped and comfortable. Great pool. Just the right size for our family. We rented this home several years ago and would consider again if we could be assured the AC has been addressed.

2 couples, 2 kids, 2teen boys and grammie. We all fit just fine! Plenty of room for quiet tome too. Great pool. Easy walk to beach. Time for a new mattress in master, unless you’re ok with sinking into the middle. Sometimes that’s what you’re after!

Our family spent a tranquil week at this wonderful semi-oceanfront home. It was awesome! Not only is the house clean, well appointed (with all the amenities you could ask for) but it is open and spacious with numerous indoor and outdoor areas. The furnishings throughout are beautiful and each room is tastefully decorated. The pool area is one of the nicer we've seen with ample seating. The kitchen is well appointed too. Plus, the realty company was also a pleasure to work with. We would definitely return to Casa de Luz for future vacations- especially for the location to the beach, those beautiful ocean sounds, and gorgeous nights of star-gazing from the upper deck. The house was so much cleaner than other years and the Carolina shores staff was very helpful. We always liked the house and location. Will be back next year.

What we like best about the house was the location. It was just a short walk to the beach and had a great view of the ocean from the upper deck, was close to shopping too. It was comfortable and perfect for 8 to 10 people. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and the ice makers were a big bonus! However, the noise from the air conditioner is very loud in the top level master bedroom and the grill is in poor shape. But that would not stop us from staying in this house again :)

We were very happy with our beach rental. The house was lovely and suited our needs very well. Just a few small issues: the master bedroom mattress was uncomfortable and noisy with every change of position; the linens for were not delivered until 8:30 at night, and then one set was the wrong size; and lastly, house keeping left us a pile of dirt at the entrance, seems they forgot a dust pan. Otherwise, the house was great. The kitchen was very well stocked and extremely organized. (a broom would have been helpful though!) All of the appliances were in good working order. One other small recommendation, place the directions for the DVD player by the TV itself. We found them on the last day in a drawer in the kitchen. Overall, we were extremely pleased and would definitely recommend a stay, and we would repeat a stay as well!
