This house was just what we needed. The layout of the house was perfect, at least one bedroom and bath on each floor. The beds were comfortable. The view and sunsets were stunning. Having a fenced yard where we could relax with our dogs made this the perfect vacation. The guys were able to fish and crab off the pier which was an added bonus. The only negative was the inside of the kitchen cabinets could use some new shelf paper and cleaning and a couple of the skillets replaced. Also, the grill could use replacing. The positives definitely outweighed the negatives. We would definitely stay here again!

My parents, 25 year old son and our two pups loved our time at the Irish Rover. The views were amazing!! The fence for the dogs were incredible. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and taking in the water views and sunsets. There are no curtains or blinds which makes watching TV in the afternoon challenging. The kitchen was stocked with every kind of pot/pan/utensil you could possibly need. Our week at the Irish Rover was extremely relaxing. The house was clean and decorated very nicely. We are looking forward to staying again there again in 2024. Would definitely recommend!

The house was just what we wanted--fence for the dogs and on the water. We watched the sunset and the dolphins swim in the sound. Went fishing in the back yard and got a couple of keeper Speckled Trout. The Salt Box and Colington Restaurant were close and the food was fantastic. The only negative was that the floor was sandy and the ceiling fans had never been cleaned and the gate in the back needs repair.

This house has the best view of the sound and gorgeous sunsets. The fenced yard was perfect for our dogs.<br/>The house is large and open spaced.<br/> I would ask that the beds be replaced in the king and queen mattresses, they are pretty old. <br/>The deck is huge and a perfect setup for the amazing sunsets. We fished out back and caught skates and Catfish and crab.

This was our fifth year staying at the Irish Rover and it has never disappointed our family. Our dogs enjoyed the stay as well. Because of Covid-19 we prepared and ate all of our meals at the house. The house has a well equipped kitchen and a coffee bar has been added. We purchased crabs at Endurance Seafood which is just down the road from the community. We swam in the sound off of the dock, utilized the pool and community beach, and traveled to the oceanside as well. It was an extremely hot week and the AC struggled to keep the main floor cool in the afternoons. When the sun set it cooled down nicely. Hope to return next year!

This was our fourth year staying at the Irish Rover. We are very comfortable there and the house has everything we need. We love the sunsets over the sound, and this year we were entertained early one morning by a dozen or more dolphins circling off of the sea wall. This is a great property for a family to relax, bring their four-legged friends, and enjoy time away at a great vacation destination.

Good. It takes a while to get out to the beach area. Like the view. Needs a pier out into the Sound. Not a good place to tie up a boat as is now. Nice house. Need a wider parking area for more than one vehicle. Enjoyed the stay.

The perfect house for my family (dogs included). The house had everything we would need plus some. Wonderful views of the sound. We didn't need to go anywhere else with having the water in our backyard. I think our dogs enjoyed it just as much as us - they loved the fenced in back yard. Most definitely coming again...

The house was nice and the view of course was wonderful. Colington is a great neighborhood for family vacations. The house was clean however the basement "bedroom" smelt like mold and animal urine. I purchased air fresher to mask the odor. Also the man who mows the lawn came by on Tuesday to mow and completely coated our vehicles with cut grass and dust. I thought "clean-up" day was on Sunday???

We rented the Irish Rover for the second time. It is a perfect home if you have a pet. We stayed there during a major NorEaster and the wind at times were 40mph. All things considered we had a fantastic week.

we stayed thru matthew .however we lived two houses down the road for 13 yrs. so we were use to storms in the outer banks. the first five days were great, good fishing and crabbing, great sunsets weather was fine. the house was very comfy everthing you need is supplied. we will be back soon again.

It was a last minute booking and we appreciate how smooth the transaction went. This was our first time in Outer Banks and we had a lot of fun. I would highly recommend Irish Rover. I've had the pleasure to vacation at Irish Rover for about 5 years now. We appreciate that the owners update the property. This year our surprise was the wonderful kitchen! The house is comfortable whether there are two of us or up to the six who have stayed. Gorgeous sunset every night, the family atmosphere of the island is so peaceful. The ramp to the front door is some better than dragging everything up a hundred steps. management was very helpful and courteous. I hope we can continue to rent Irish Rover for a long time to come.

We had the perfect sized house for our family and were able to take the dog and the gorgeous home with the amazing views of sunset on the sound were great! Carolina Shores answered every last ridiculous question I had and gladly responded to every one. I think everyone in my family loved the house including my wife and our 3 year old and 9 year old and even the dog!

The property was beautiful, but a little farther from the club house pool and the main island than we anticipated. With that said, we greatly enjoyed the house and our first visit to the Outer Banks. The sunset views are quite stunning from the porch.<br/><br/>We would have appreciated a reminder of how to pick-up the keys to the house when we sent in the house balance. This information is in the rental agreement, but when traveling by plane with children, it is difficult to remember all the details. The key pick-up procedure was different than most rental houses in which we have stayed.

This is a lovely house with plenty of room and a view of the sound. The yard is so nice, especially if you have pets. The Collington Harbour community is wonderful and the community pool is great. Sunsets are beautiful and if you like fishing you can do it right off the pier.

Peacful, just far enough away from the hustle and bustle.

I have rented other properties on the Outer Banks over the years, but Irish Rover was over all the best. It was clean and well maintained, equipped with everything we could possible need. It was a true home away from home. We all loved the lay-out of the house, very cozy. Loved sitting on the deck, very relaxing and peaceful. The fenced in yard was great for our dogs, they loved being able to run and not having to be leashed each time they went out. Some fishing was done out back, crabs were the catch of the day! The weather was beautiful, there was only one day of cloudiness and some rain, that was a shopping day. Enjoyed the Colington Harbor beach and pool. Enjoyed going to the beach a few days also. We went to our favorite restaurants, The Outer Banks Brewing Station and The Wharf at Wanchese; delicious food.<br/> <br/> I hope this property remains a rental. I would recommend it and hope to be able to return for another visit. My vacations are my "de-stressing" times and this home fit my needs perfectly.

The Irish Rover sits on property in the Colington Harbour neighborhood. It is a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Kill Devil Hills and Rt158. We were close to restaurants and the beach, but we really had all the water and sun we needed right there on the Sound. The house was a great size and had all the amenities we needed. The house has a great deck overlooking the Sound with a ladder to get into the water or onto a kayak. There are benches and holders for your fishing rods and even a few crab pots for your to use. The Irish Rover has a wonderful little fenced in yard where my dogs could play, which is unusual for a waterfront home. Colington Harbour has a great community pool and a little beach on the Soundside if you want to wade out in the water. The house was wonderful and I'd stay there again. My only criticism is that the house wasn't very clean when we arrived...specifically the floors. They were full of dog hair and there were even cheerios under the tables. But this is easily fixed with a cleaning service with a closer attention to detail in homes that allow pets.

The house has everything you need! We didn't have to even unpack alot of the items that we brought. The view of the sound was great. It was a bit of a hike back to the house off the main roads, but once you got there it was quiet and peaceful. We were able to catch a bunch of crabs right off our dock, which the kids loved!

This home had everything we could have needed. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals and there were crab cages out back for catching blue crabs for the meal.Our family truly enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning and great bottle if wine at night while the dolphins and/or beautiful sail boat went by. Great time had by all!

This is our second year in this home. Have been having family reunions on the Outer Banks for over 20 years and love this home. My grandkids love the pool and beach and of course, being able to go crabbing and fishing off the dock is great. We caught flounder, crabs, etc. Enough to feed us all many times. We love the Outer Banks and this home is well equipped. I also appreciate the friendliness of the staff when re-booking this home. Will definitely stay at Irish Rover again.

From start the finish, the staff was very helpful. I had looked a several properties from several different rental agencies and Paula was the only agent that I spoke to who could answer all my questions and was very friendy and helpful. <br/> We were very pleased with the Irish Rover and Collington Harbor. We loved being right on the sound and my husband loved being able to go out every morning and fish and crab before the kids woke up. We felt right at home there and made their home ours for a week. The sunsets were amazing, the neighbors friendly and the home fully stocked wth all you will need to make your vacation wonderful. We definitely intend to return again next year.
